During the mission, the delegation met with local representatives of the central government in each region, as well as representatives of the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs, and local civil society organizations. The delegation also met with members of IDP communities to listen to their views about the current situation and their hopes for the future. As part of the mission, the delegation toured several newly constructed IDP settlements, and learned about programs designed to expand livelihood opportunities for IDPs.

The delegation praised the substantial resources and attention the Government of Azerbaijan which has invested into improving living conditions for IDPs. The delegation further highlighted the need for renewed engagement by the international community to mediate a peaceful resolution of the conflict, and expressed hope that the United Nations can contribute to finding a solution that will allow the displaced communities to return to their place of origin.
