Within the framework of the Asylum Quality Initiative Project (QIEE Project), UNHCR Representation in Azerbaijan in cooperation with the Ombudsman Office and the Refugee Status Determination (RSD) Department of the State Migration Service (SMS) and with the support of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan is organizing one day targeted joint training for the border-guards and other representatives of the law-enforcement bodies working in the South and North border regions of the Republic of Azerbaijan which will be held on 16 October 2015 in Lenkoran city and 23 October 2015 in Guba city.
The objective of these training events is to further develop skills, knowledge and expertise of the government officials involved in asylum/migration matters and working in the border regions of the country.
The training sessions will be facilitated by the representatives of UNHCR and the Ombudsman Office, as well as the RSD Department of the State Migration Service.
The Republic of Azerbaijan is one of the six countries participating in the Asylum Systems Quality Initiative in Eastern Europe and South Caucasus, which was launched in April 2013. This project is implemented by the UNHCR, focuses on improvement of asylum procedures and refugee protection in six countries. In addition to the Republic of Azerbaijan, the project covers Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.
The training will be held in the Heydar Aliyev Center in Lenkoran city (located at 18 Sh. Akhundo st) from 10:00 to 13:00
